A couple of things.
You all may have noticed that I've got a gig I'm really looking forward to with keyboardist Gary Verrill this coming Sunday - and I just found out that another of the guest performers is Roby Duke, whom I have had the (freaky-cool) total priviledge of working with in the past. If you've never heard Roby live before, here's your chance. He'll take your breath away. Seriously.
Another cool thing - super-hip bassist Bennet Pullen will be in concert with "Nathan Chance" next week. I'll blog some details about that next time I have them in front of me.
(And a personal note: to Bernadette, and to Doug - you're in my prayers.)
I hope all is well with all of you...

Merry Christmas, friends!
Yes, I'm alive!!
I've been rather busy designing websites this month, through our business, Banana Peel Media. However, I have a few things coming up in December, so stay tuned if you want to know about them.
In the meantime, I've got a podcast up (thank heaven for the webmaster of this site - thanks Chad!!), as a little Christmas gift to you.
I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving!

Indians Indians
Just stopping by to post a photo of the incredible NAMMY Award-winning Native American flautist/vocalist Robert Mirabal and me.
By the way: "Indians Indians" is the title track on a CD he released in 2003 - and let me tell you, he's got soul. Yikes.
Do I look happy or what?

Test...one, two...
Sibilance. Sibilance.
Okay, just kidding.
Just wanted to drop in and let you all know that I saw the fabulous rock band Switchfoot last night, and they were amazing. Though as an R&B singer, I am most appreciative of a melismatic vocal style, I really love lead singer Jon Foreman's "just what the tune requires" space. What a cool band.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Checking in.
Hello, everyone!
I've been playing private events lately, so there hasn't been much to write about. I thought I would check in, post a photograph of the lovely and talented Nancy Erickson and myself (from what has jokingly come to be known as The Nancy and Thea Collection - there is one photograph taken at nearly every gig where we're in this same pose), and let you all know I'm still alive, kicking, and singing.
There isn't a lot of news, but Nancy and I recently discovered we have a mutual friend - the genius vocal arranger, Roger Treece (who moved to NYC in recent years to work closely with Bobby McFerrin) - it is indeed a small world!
I'll let you know as soon as something earth-shattering happens! In the meantime, I hope all is well with you...

Amazing night!
Greetings, all!
I had the good fortune of joining my Freddy Pink brothas and sistahs last night in a performance for the city of Issaquah, Washington, in their Concerts on the Green series. I knew it was going to be a great night when a) the sound check was clean - yay!, b) several extremely enthusiastic kids showed up backstage, asking for autographs even before downbeat, and c) I met the promoter briefly, and found him to be very gracious and personable.
Speaking of gracious and personable: What I didn't expect was to meet Alan White, the legendary rock drummer of the group Yes (yes, that one) - the guy who did sessions with various members of The Beatles (he's the drummer on a number of hit tunes everyone will recognize for-literally-ever) - the guy with the scary cool resume who remains an icon in the music business to this day.
Scary cool. And what a kind and generous man.
Nothing more to say on this one (except that my fellow Pinksters turned in another great performance).
What a night!
